Celebrating the Movies!

You're in Goa, the land of sun, sand and song. So, roll out the red carpet and breathe in the heady intoxication of a State geared up to celebrate the movies in the true spirit of world class entertainment. As streets wear an air of festivity and the local Goan breaks into music and dance, Goa comes alive with `IDEA Celebrating IFFI GOA' from November 24 to December 4, 2005 at the country's most prestigious 36th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) through a synergy of global participation, high profile glamour, top notch entertainment with world renowned international celebrities walking the red carpet, as the festival rolls a repertoire of critically acclaimed international films, world premiers, film bazaars, children's workshops, street animations, music concerts and open air beach screenings to delegates and the public in a perfect packaging of glamour, excitement, fun and celebratory people's participation.

Taking the experience of entertainment to a different stratosphere, this year IFFI 2005 combines with India's leading GSM mobile services operator, IDEA Cellular synergizing state-of-the-art telecommunications, customer service and innovative connectivity opportunities allowing lovers of cinema a participative entertaining experience at their fingertips in wholesome cinema.

Coming a long way from the first Indian International Film Festival of India held in Bombay in 1952, the festival today has earned its own place in the sun after the Paris based Federation International des Associations de Producteurs de Films (FIAPF) conferred official recognition to the Indian festival in 1963, putting it on par with those of Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Toronto. This year with nearly 200 international and Indian films screened during the eleven day period, including critically acclaimed international films from Asian, African, European and Latin American countries along with a number of Indian feature and non-feature films, this mega Indian festival has become a major forum for world cinema.
