Integrated Infrastructure Development for GOA IFFI

The festival requires infrastructure of international standards and action is being taken on war footing to put the minimum required infrastructure in place for holding of the IFFI this year. Simultaneously, action is being initiated for development of master plan to provide and upgrade the infrastructure on long term basis.

In order to have a co-ordinated development of the IFFI related infrastructure facilities and in the process upgradation of general infrastructure of the State keeping in view the long term perspective, the State has appointed M/s. HOK Planning Group, Toronto, Canada as the lead Consultant.

The activities relating to the festival in the Phase I will be in two complexes namely

  • Festival Auditorium adjoining Kala Academy;
  • Multiplex and Entertainment Facility at old Goa Medical College Complex.

PHASE I

1. AREA ADJOINING KALA ACADEMY

In the area (i.e. the football ground adjoining the Kala Academy), it is proposed to build the main auditorium with a capacity of around 1400. This will be a temporary structure and will serve as the venue for the inaugural and closing ceremony of the IFFI besides screening of films, conventions, seminars and other activties. The structure will consist of 4 screening rooms of which one could also be used as a jury screening room for around 20-40 people. The planning of this facility is on and the consultants Ms Uttam Jain Associates, appointed for this purpose have given an estimated cost of Rs.16.50 crores for construction
