Golden Peacock

The Award for Best Film by an Asian Director consisting of a Golden Peacock and a cash prize of Rs.5,00,000/- conferred to the Iranian film AT FIVE IN THE AFTERNOON (PANJ-E-ASR) by Samira Makhmalbaf for expressing, in a powerful cinematic style, a message of hope in a dramatic and desperate situation.

 

Silver Peacock

The Award for the Most Promising Asian Director consisting of a Silver Peacock and a cash prize of Rs. 2,50,000/- goes to the Israeli Director Ra’anan Alexandrowicz for his film JAMES JOURNEY TO JERUSALEM (MASSA’OT JAMES BE’ERETZ HAKODESH) for his paradoxical vision of basic values lost in a consumerist society.

 

Special Jury Prizes

The Special Jury Award consisting of a Silver Peacock and a cash prize of Rs.2,50,000/- goes to the Indian film IN COURSE OF TIME (PROHOR) by Subhadro Chowdhury for its deeply ethical message of forgiveness, realistically rooted in contemporary society.
