Who organizes the International Film Festival of India?
The Festival is organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry.
Is the Festival recognized by any association?
The Festival is recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF).

37th International Film Festival of India is organized in Goa from 23 rd November to 3 rd December 2006
What is the objective behind organizing a festival of this grandeur?
The Festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinematographies of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and co- operation among peoples of the world.
What are the different film categories that will be screened at the IFFI?The programme of the Festival will be divided into the following broad categories:

- Retrospectives, Tributes, Focus
- Indian Panorama

What are the coveted prizes to be won at the IFFI?
The following prizes will be given away:
- Best Film: Golden peacock and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000 (to be given to the director of the film)
- Most promising Director: Silver peacock and a cash prize of Rs. 5,00000/-
- Special Jury Award (to be given to a film Silver Peacock and a cash prize of or for an individual's artistic contribution Rs. 5,00000/- to a film, if given to a film, it will be awarded to the Director of the film)

What all venues will screen the films and host other events?
Along with these, Children’s Park will host children’s workshops and other events.

IFFI provides a one-stop meeting point for film artistes, directors, producers, distributors, exhibitors, exporters and importers, film financiers, critics and film lovers coming together to appreciate and discuss the finer nuances of quality films and create platforms for showcasing new talent.
How will IFFI benefit National/ regional Indian cinema?
The USP of this world festival – India of course, IFFI Goa, 2006 presents the Indian Film Fraternity with tremendous opportunities for global recognition. Along with tributes IFFI Goa, 2006 pay homage to Indian luminaries, S.D Burman, Prithviraj Kapoor, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Nadira, Padmini and others who have contributed tremendously to the growth of Indian cinema. The Festival will also present a treat of 10 highest grossing Indian movies, thus providing them quality international exposure.

Master Classes by Vijay Singh, Technical Section Retrospectives on Digital Editing by Steven Cohen, Restorations of Films by Augustuscolour, Italy and Animation and Digital Effects by UBIK Visual Effects, Italy.
Can the common man view the films screened at the IFFI?
IFFI is available to the non-accredited public via open air screenings of Official Selection films that are Cult /Revolutionary movies from India and world over. Additionally publics can also catch mobile Cinemas which will be simultaneously running throughout Goa.
Can you buy tickets for the movies in the competitive section?
No tickets are sold. Access to IFFI screenings is upon presentation of one's badge or upon invitation only. For Official Selection screenings, accredited persons also need to present an invitation. These invitations are personal and non-transferable, and legal action may be taken against persons transferring tickets even when no monetary exchange is involved.
When is the Official Selection announced?
The Official Selection is announced on the Festival's website on www.iffigoa.org
When is the "Screening Schedule" for the Official Selection available?
The screening schedule with the dates and venues of the screenings of selected films is posted on the Festival website one week before the event opens.
