GOUTAM GHOSE: Born in Faridpur, Uttar Pradesh (1950), Goutam Ghosh started his career as a political activist and photo journalist and then stepped into the world of film making. ‘Mabhoomi’ in Telugu, which depicted the rebellion of the workers against the Nizam of Hyderabad, was his earlier film. He has worked as a Screenwriter, Director, Composer (Music Score), Cinematographer for many of his own films.
Some of his finest films are ‘Impermanence’, ‘Abar Arannye’, ‘Dekha’, ‘Ray: Life And Work Of Satyajit Ray’, ‘Gudia’ (The Doll), ‘Patang’ (The Kite), ‘Padma Nadir Majhi’ (Boatman of the River Padma), ‘Antarjali Yatra’ (The Voyage Beyond), ‘Paar’ (The Crossing).
Goutam Ghosh’s film ‘Abar Arannye’ was nominated at the Montréal World Film Festival (2003) for the award ‘Grand Prix des Amériques’ and also at the Marrakech International Film Festival nominated for the Golden Star Award.
Goutam Ghosh has won the Filmfare Award for Best Documentary - Critics
for Beyond the Himalayas and also Best Screenplay for ‘Paar’.
