The cultural hub of Goa, the Kala Academy was established in 1969, and till date serves as the principal institution for the promotion of art and culture in the State of Goa. Designed by Charles Correia and situated on the banks of the River Mandovi along the Panaji-Dona Paula road, the complex includes an open air auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,500, a close air-conditioned theatre called the Dinanath Mangueshkar Auditorium with a capacity of 900 seats, two mini-theatres, a recording studio, a full-fledged library of music, books, an Art Gallery and workshop, visitor’s room.
