TEAM LEADER - COMMANDER YOGESH GARUD
Commander Yogesh Garud is the Commanding Officer of the Indian Naval Air Squadron 551 and is the Team Leader of the Sagar Pawan . He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy at Pune. A Qualified Flying Instructor with flying hours in excess of 2000 hours. He was a founder member of the team way back in 2003. Singularly, he is responsible for safe and proficient conduct of the Sagar Pawan display. Cdr Garud has also commanded Indian Naval Seaward Defence Boat T 54
TEAM MEMBER - RIGHT (STARBOARD) COMMANDER SATYEN VARTAK
Commander Satyen Vartak is the senior Pilot of the Squadron and deputy Leader of the Sagar Pawan . He formats on the right side of the Leader An alumnus of the National Defence Academy , Pune, he has a Diploma in Management Studies from Jamunalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He has flying experience in excess of 1600 hours and is qualified on Mig 21 aircraft. Prior to his posting to the Squadron, Commander Vartak was Executive Officer (Second in Command) of Indian Naval Ship Prahar.
TEAM MEMBER - LEFT (PORT) COMMANDER YASHWANT KARKARE
Commander Yashwant Karkare is the Staff Qualified Flying Instructor of the Squadron. He formats on the left side of the Leader. He is an alumnus of the Naval Academy , Verem, Goa . His flying experience is in excess of 1700 hours. Prior to his posting to this Squadron, he was Executive Officer (Second in Command) of Indian Naval Ship Konkan, a mine sweeping ship.
