Films Division of India (FDI) has been the leading producer of short films in India for the last six decade. Started in April 1948, Films Division is a unit of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and will complete its sixtieth year next year. Over the years, Films Division has literally made thousands of films which today comprise a treasure trove of information on the country?s heritage. Indeed, in the last 60 years it has recorded the history of the country?s progress. Film Division has also produced a short film on the film industry in India. This film is about the history of the industry as also its current status.
A unique exhibition of archival cine equipment, properties and costumes used in Indian film classics, organized by the Films Division, will be the main highlight of the forthcoming 38th International Film Festival of India, Goa, 2007, to be held in Panjim, Goa from November 23 to December 4, 2007. Much of the material is from the collection of the Films Division and has also been curated from some of the leading production houses of the country. The exhibition itself will be inaugurated on November 24 and will continue up to December 3, 2007. The exhibition is the brainchild of the Union Minister, Information & Broadcasting, Shri Priyaranjan Dasmunshi and designed by Chief Producer of Film Division of India, Shri Kuldeep Sinha.

National Film Archives of India, Pune, will hold a special exhibition of posters and other material at the Kala Academy during IFFI.
