The Festival is organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry.

What is the objective behind organizing a festival of this grandeur?
The Festival aims at providing a common platform for the cinematographies of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributing to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendship and co- operation among peoples of the world.

What are the coveted prizes to be won at the IFFI?
The following prizes will be given away:
- Best Film: Golden peacock and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000 (to be given to the director of the film)
- Most promising Director: Silver peacock and a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000/-
- Special Jury Award: Silver Peacock and a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000/- to be awarded to a film,for it's individual artistic contribution.

IFFI provides a one-stop meeting point for film artistes, directors, producers, distributors, exhibitors, exporters and importers, film financiers, critics and film lovers coming together to appreciate and discuss the finer nuances of quality films and create platforms for showcasing new talent.
How will IFFI benefit National/ regional Indian cinema?
The USP of this world festival – India of course, IFFI Goa, 2007 presents the Indian Film Fraternity with tremendous opportunities for global recognition. The Festival will also present a treat of highest grossing Indian movies, thus providing them quality international exposure.
Along with film screenings what other workshops/ events will take place?
Cultural events are planned at Canacona, Pernem/Dhargalim, Calangute, Sanguem/Quepem and Colva.
CII will organise the `Big Picture' Conference at the Goa Mariott Resort. NFDC will organise a buyer's lounge and co-production market, while FICCI will organise a seminar and Master Class on Animation and Visual Effects. A new initiative undertaken this year by NFDC in partnership with DFF will have international consultants and experts advise and work with selected film makers to develop scripts of international quality.
Screenwriters Bloc (18th - 23rd Nov, Goa Marriott Resort) - A Script Development Workshop
The aim of the workshop is to develop eight pre-selected Indian scripts for the international market, will provide a platform for seven Indian scriptwriters to work out and finalize already developed screenplays through active consultation and interaction with a select team of seven renowned professionals from the global film industry, including India. The eight scripts will be analyzed in detail through the workshop and focus on various aspects of the projects such as structure, characters, plot development, and dialogue. The six mentors for the workshop are Danis Tanovic (No Man’s Land), Bernd Lichtenberg (Goodbye Lenin), Olivia Hetreed (Girl with a Pearl Earring), Shaji Karun, Anjum Rajabali, and Ashwini Malik.

Can the common man view the films screened at the IFFI?
IFFI is available to the non-accredited public via open air screenings of films from India and world over at the following venues from Nov 24-27.

Can you buy tickets for the movies in the competitive section?
For the first time a ticketing system has been introduced whereby every delegate will have to book in advance for any film that he/she would like to see. A maximum of 3 tickets only for the general delegate, 4 tickets per day for the Film Industry delegates and 5 per day for the Press will be issued. Hence a general delegate can book a maximum of 9 tickets for 3 days at one time and a film industry delegate can book a max of 12 tickets at one time. Delegate can book for only the present day, tomorrow and the day after. Tickets will be sold at 15 Box Office booths facilitated at the Film Festival Venues ((6 counters at INOX MULTIPLEX, 7 at Old GMC, 2 at Kala Academy). Tickets will be available at the Box Office booths from 8.00am to 11.00pm. TICKETING WILL COMMENCE NOV 23RD ONWARDS.

When is the "Screening Schedule" for the Official Selection available?
The screening schedule with the dates and venues of the screenings of selected films is posted on the Festival website one week before the event opens.
