Synopsis: Based on N. Kunjamohan’s Sahitya Akademi award-winning short story, Chaoba struggles to feed his ailing wife and three children by fishing in the Barak. After many days, Chaoba and his son Mani catch a hilsa. Joyous, they rush home to cook hilsa curry but are unable to so as Chaoba has to sell his catch to buy some rice.


Director: Ningthouja Laancha is an award-winning film and stage director, screenplay writer, producer, cinematographer, editor, composer, and playwright. They have directed more than 17 films and documentaries, most of which focus on social issues, culture, and the heritage of Manipur and northeastern India. They have been selected as the Best Actor multiple times in various state and national-level theater festivals. Their films have been featured in Nongdari Tarak Khidare Open Frame (2003) and Indian Panorama (2004). Eliza Ngangbam Mahao has appeared in Indian Panorama (2009). Their debut feature film, "Mami Sami," has been showcased at various film festivals.
