Synopsis: Insular follows the sole survivor of an illegal yola (boat) going from the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico. As time passes, the castaway learns to cope with his isolation by surviving with what the island provides. But his sanity is tested, and the lines of reality increasingly blur. An unexpected turn makes him question his initial reason for leaving.

Directors Bio: Hector M.Valdez directed the feature-length documentary República del Color (2015), Melocotones (2017) was nominated for Yellow Robin at the IFFR Curaçao. Malpaso (2019) at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and went on to win Best Feature at New York Latino Film Festival. It represented the Dominican Republic at the Spanish Academy Awards (Premios Goya) and opened Slamdance Miami 2021.
