Synopsis: The film highlights the poetic side of the activist, Irom Sharmila Chanu inside a highly guarded hospital prison in Manipur as she scribes her notebook while serving her sentence for “attempt to commit suicide”. She is charged for fighting against the Armed Forces Special Power’s Act 1958, which grants special power to the Indian armed forces to arrest, detain, interrogate or even kill any person on mere suspicion with impunity.


Director: Borun Thokchom is a national award-winning filmmaker and has more than a decade of experience in television journalism. He worked as a cinematographer for NHK World, Japan for a documentary series on the WWII titled Battle of lmphal. His latest documentary film, I RISE produced by the Films Division, Mumbai has screened at various national and international film festivals and won several awards.
