Synopsis : Pinjara is the tragic love story of a respectable school teacher ‘Guruji’ and a travelling dancer. The school teacher chooses to die under a mistaken identity, to keep the morals and values of Guruji alive in the village, while the dancer dies feeling responsible for Guruji’s fate. The story’s crux revolves around death freeing them from the cage of guilt.


Director’s Bio : Vatsala Deshmukh (1930 – 2022) was an Indian film actress in Marathi and Hindi cinema. She started her career as a model and later joined films. She made her screen debut with the Hindi movie Toofan and Deeya (1956), directed by Prabhat Kumar and went on to act in in several Hindi and Marathi films like Navrang (1959), Ladki Sahyadri Ki (1966), Jal Bin Machhli Nritya Bin Bijli (1971), Pinjara (1972), Jyotibacha Navas (1975), Bala Gau Kashi Angai (1977), Suhaag (1979), Kashino Dikro (1979) and Patalin (1981).
