Synopsis: Io Capitano tells the story of the adventurous journey of Seydou and Moussa, two young men who leave Dakar to make their way to Europe. A contemporary Odyssey through the dangers of the desert, the horrors of the detention centers in Libya and the perils of the sea.
Directors Bio: Matteo GARRONE (b. 1968, Italy) gained recognition in 1996 for his short film Silhouette that won a prize at the Sacher Festival. His feature debut Terra di mezzo (1997) won the prize for best film at the Turin festival Cinema Giovani. After The Embalmer (2002), which won a prize for just about every cinematographic aspect in Italy, his international art house hit Gomorrah received a Golden Globe nomination and the Grand Jury Prize in Cannes.
