Fipresci International Critics Award
Lacking a personal video archive, Youhanna (the filmmaker) constructs false memories using lost home videotapes shot between the 1990s and 2000s across Europe, Africa, and Asia, aided by a fictional memory-reconstruction artificial entityuntil a real, personal archive surfaces, transporting him into the past to relive one final memory with his late mother.
Youhanna Nagy is a director, visual artist, editor and producer from Alexandria, Egypt. Heobtained his bachelor's degree in Anthropology. His first short documentary (It's nothing nagy,just hang up!) received a jury Special Mention Award from the 43rd Cairo International FilmFestival. He was co-producer in "Objects are closer than they appear" the Egyptian film officiallyselected in the 45th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Gouna film festival.Youhanna's interest goes beyond filmmaking, as he was a Film Instructor at Camera CHICA anda film programmer at Jesuit cinema club in Alexandria. He was a jury member in Rough cut labAfrica 2024 and film moderator at goethe film week 2023 and 2024. He edited short films,feature films, commercial ads, and personally got an outstanding narrative editing award atManassat film festival.
