Ivan Castiñeiras returns to his childhood home to delve into the legends and stories of the surrounding area. Filmed over 15 years, Deuses de pedra draws careful lines between past and present, portraying a beautiful land and the beautiful souls of those who live there.
Ivan graduated in Art History from the University of Santiago de Compostela and in Cinema from the National Film Conservatory of Lisbon (ESTC). He studied at the Louis Lumière School (Paris), and integrated a postgraduate degree in cinematography direction at ESCAC (Barcelona). He has worked in the cinematography of films by Diana Toucedo, Miguel Cabral, June Balthazard o Ángel Santos; as a filmmaker he is the director of the short films A raia (2012), Ou est la jungle? (2015), Chemins battus (2016) and Trajectory Drift (2018). Filmed over the course of fifteen years, Deuses de pedra (Gods of stone) is his first feature.
