A darkly comedic drama set during the Navratri festival in India which explores societal dynamics, secrets, and familial relationships within an apartment complex. The film follows Maitri Singh, an aspiring travel blogger with a strained relationship with her mother, Shobha Singh. As Maitri tries to create content for her YouTube channel, her life takes a dramatic turn when she becomes involved in a violent altercation. Pinch is a nuanced exploration of trauma, guilt, and the societal pressures to stay silent about incidents of sexual misconduct and the courage it takes to keep the conversation going.
Uttera Singh is an actor/director originally from the heart of India. She has an MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts, where she co-directed a feature film called Mad Whale. Her short film FANNY PACK screened over eighty film festivals and won over twenty five awards, including the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award and best comedy at the Cleveland IFF, eventually it was sold to PBS. Uttera is a Ryan Murphy HALF fellow. Her feature directorial debut PINCH (2025) was selected at FilmFest München.
