IFFI is the only film festival in South Asia that is accredited by International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF) in Competitive Feature Films Category.

Since its inception in 1952, IFFI has been curating spectacular films from all over the world. Its goal is to provide a single platform for ambitious filmmakers, cineastes, and industry professionals to have access to excellent cinema from across the world.

IFFI’s International Cinema section is an assortment of culturally and aesthetically remarkable films from around the world. It has kept its stature high by committing to promote art by showcasing the international films of the year shortlisted by the eminent members associated with the Film Industry.

Since 2004, IFFI has moved to its permanent venue at Goa, where it is jointly organized each year by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG).

Festival Programmes in brief

For the coveted Golden Peacock and Silver Peacock Awards. A selection of 15 fiction feature films representing the emerging trends in the aesthetics and politics of film as envisioned by masters and young voice alike.

IFFI in collaboration with the International Council for Film, Television and Audio-visual Communication (ICFT), Paris, each year presents a special ICFT prize consisting of the UNESCO Gandhi Medal awarded to a film which reflects the ideals promoted by UNESCO - especially – Tolerance, Intercultural Dialogue and Culture of Peace.

Entries open for the above four sections: Last date for submission: 31st August 2023.

Eligibility: English-subtitled Films with a minimum duration of 70 minutes and above. They must have been completed between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023. Except for Indian films, the entries in this section should not have been released/ shown virtual/ OTT platform/ physically in India or presented in any other Indian Film Festivals before.

The largest South Asian film market as a distinctive vertical of IFFI. It encourages creative and financial collaboration between the South Asian and International film communities. The focus is on discovering, supporting and showcasing South Asian content and talent in filmmaking, production and distribution. The Bazaar also facilitates the sales of world cinema in the South Asian region. Different programmes in Films Bazaar include Country/State/Company Stalls and Pavillions, Co-Production Market, Viewing Room, Market Screenings, Work in Progress Lab, Producers’ Workshop, Knowledge Series, Book-to-Box Office, Screenwriters’ Lab, etc

75 young talents (between 18 to 35 years) selected after a rigorous competition by an eminent jury, chosen based on their excellence in different areas of filmmaking, namely direction, acting, cinematography, editing, scriptwriting, playback singing, music composition, costume-and-makeup, art design and animation, visual effects (VFX), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). They would compete in a ‘Challenge’ to test their mettle in the art of Cinema.

Indian Film Personality of the Year

Previous recipients were Chiranjeevi (2022), Hema Malini (2021) and Prasoon Joshi (2021).
